MASSAGE April 2010
Touch
of Aroha
On a distant land, in the centre of Europe
where the heart chakra of Mother Earth beats did I hear about it
first. There are people there who know and admire treasures of the
Pacific no matter how far away it is. They are familiar with dances
of Hawaii, music, songs and traditions of Aotearoa and also they know
the way how to provide for others. With touch.
It is a massage born from authentic culture and philosophies, and
keeping greatest respect to them still infused with inventions of
medical science of the modern "western" world.
I had my first training in Budapest, completed my studies in
Denmark, later took the next step right here in NZ. With a smile do I
remember now my European attitude at the start. I thought some weeks,
then there it is my license at the end of a course. Well no. It is a
lifetime of practice, a way of life, transformation and growth, a new
view and approach to the world. It is a path.
I learnt dances, sacred, moving energies, providing moves for the
massage. I learnt philosophy of sea-faring navigators, their
awareness and connectedness, and that my days may be noa each massage
session is still tapu. I learnt about joints, muscles, postures and
other medical topics. And only THEN (and it is still the most
significant memory in my practice that when all the knowledge and
attitude is present and being applied, only then) could come
touch.
It is a touch of Aroha.
Unconditional acceptance and respect. A way to provide. Time, place,
comfort and possibility: to relax muscles, ease pains, revitalise
skin, tone figures... Lots of physical benefits. And besides: to
unwind or to recharge batteries, to get rid of stress and worries and
become what we really are, positive, strong and wonderful again.
This "Polynesian Dance Massage" is unique even to watch
as the dances, the music, the rhythm and flow of caring creates a
special atmosphere. Those who are open for something new are welcome
for a free demonstration massage in Infinity Spiritual Shop, Hamilton
on 9 April. It will be a great way to have a taste, a feel of it, to
learn about something that may better our lives.

MASSAGE September 2006
This was the year I started to learn MA-URI Massage. I still remember when I first entered the room... and saw the massage principles written on the wall one by one. The first I caught sight of was TOUCH... which is OK... in a massage training. Only later did I learn that touch comes LAST! That is what I would like to share with you here and now. A significant and essential experience of mine about THIS type of touch.
The type you experience ONLY HERE, in THIS massage room.
Do you know where you arrive when you enter?
It is an altar in the middle. Covered with fresh sheets. Waiting for you. And around it there is ancient power and knowledge of:
MOVEMENT - The masseuse is dancing around the table
PLACEMENT - under which the oils is warming to YOUR skin. Steps and techniques
PRECISION - precisely, without thinking, accurately (as they are the channel of energy) but from instinct now
RHYTHM - Following the music
CONNECTEDNESS - chosen for YOU, connecting bodies and souls.
TIMING - Movements slowing and quickening
AWARENESS - following YOUR needs
BREATHING - while the breaths of both of you is to cleanse YOU this time...
ALLIGNMENT - all of these together
SACREDNESS - will be strong and unique. They will make a ritual
FOCUS - for YOUR health and well-being.
And all this is merely the start. When all of these are already there
” then ! comes TOUCH”.
