About AVIVA`S METHOD

WHO IS AVIVA

Aviva Gabriella Steiner was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1930, of sport champion parents. She got to Israel in 1946 ( - the only version of her book I have found and is not in Hebrew is a Hungarian translation published by Livia Toth, her student. ) As a child she learnt dancing and gymnastics, later graduated from a College Of Physical Education.  She was a dancer in the Opera House before choosing healing. She got admission to the University Of Medical Sciences and taught gymnastics.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

That was when she had a group of women at the average age of 45 – 65. She was trying to develop easy warm-up exercises for them when much to her surprise for the next class only the two oldest ladies (70) showed up. Why? Because the others had their periods started. That was the starting point of decades of research and development to create the most beneficial exercises for ladies.

THEORY

Obviously the goal has never been to give periods back to women who were already past that age. Nature`s rules cannot be changed anyway. Aviva was, however, deeply interested in the question: people are able to consciously control their pee and poo with all the muscles needed for it, still women are not able to control their wombs and periods.

Especially in the past when she started her significant work, these were rather taboo topics, leaving women with little knowledge or help but much more uneasiness, embarrassment and shame.

With her studies and experiences she claims that training particular muscles of the area (Using our bums, lower belly, abdominal, sciatic and pelvic floor muscles) boosts blood circulation thus provides women not only with muscle control of the whole pelvis but also improved vitamin and hormone supply. The result is health of the internal organs as well as positive stimulation of the central hormonal controller in the brain, the pituitary gland.

Present day women can choose – how long periods they prefer, is it more convenient on weekdays  or timed at weekends, (No kidding, ladies, our body, our muscles, our choice!), if they aim to conceive or on the contrary, etc. Also we already have the exercises that help period pain, PMS, or balancing the hormone level, the symptoms of the menopause.

PRACTICE

It is a pleasant, gentle method using postures, dance steps and music. Not a miracle, does not require belief in it. It only requires some time, comfortable clothes, and the intent to give it a try.

What goals can one achieve with it? (In general with at least 30 minutes dancing twice a week – no more.)

- time the start of the period (no delays)

- have regular periods (same number of days)

- have shorter periods (Some say: if it is more than 5 days, what is left from the month?)

- forget PMS symptoms

- help with any emotional imbalance (any age or reason), to relax in stress and depression

- forget period pain

- have more joy in bed (The optimal hormone level aids desire as well as conception.)

- fertility (movements cause congestion that can aid health of fallopian tube and sometimes cease the cause of barrenness)

- help conception

- easy childbearing and delivery  (strengthening the womb muscles even after miscarriage helps childbearing and delivery)

- gentle still active regeneration of muscles and inside organs after childbirth, (for the physical wellbeing as well as getting back the pretty, slim, girl figure and looks)

- aid with milk production for breastfeeding

- CONTINENCE!

- ease symptoms of the menopause (strong body in and outside and superb hormonal control of the time of change)

- help to lose excess weight (caused by hormonal imbalance. It reduces the appetite and offers about 2.5 kg minus a months.)

Some quotations from women using the method:

Gabi – she had to take strong pain killers to ease her period pain. They were harmful for her liver though. She was also suggested to have her uterus removed. She was most surprised when the exercises took her pain away.

Viki – she was operated on with endometriosis. Then she got her periods only with medical help. After a months of Aviva exercises her period started spontaneously.

Zsuzsa – she had a  cyst , which after regular exercising disappeared. Medical examination proved it.

Maria – she is happy because though she started to train to fix the time and length of her periods now her husband is on the opinion that “she is better than ever.”

Veronika – she suffered from bad heat rushes disabling her to sleep after midnight. She lay in bed, hot, scared by her excessive pulse. After 3 weeks of Aviva training she was happy to sleep through the night.
